How to Sell Clothing on eBay Successfully

Complete guide to selling clothing on eBay in 2026. Photography, measurements, brand identification, and pricing strategies for clothing resellers.

Clothing is the second-largest eBay category and one of the most competitive. Here is how to list clothing that stands out and converts.

Photograph Clothing Like a Pro

Flat-lay photography on a clean white surface is the standard that performs best in eBay search thumbnails. Include front, back, and detail shots of tags, logos, and any flaws. For vintage clothing, close-up shots of fabric texture and any repairs or alterations are necessary. Iron or steam clothing before photographing — wrinkled presentation reduces sale price.

Measurements Are Non-Negotiable

For all clothing, especially vintage and plus sizes, include flat measurements in inches: chest (armpit to armpit x2), waist, hips (widest point x2), and length (shoulder to hem for tops, waistband to hem for bottoms). Sleeve length for shirts and jackets. Inseam for pants. These measurements prevent size-related returns.

Brand Identification

Brand name belongs in the title. Always. 'Levi's' outperforms 'jeans brand.' Photograph all labels — main brand label, country of origin tag, size tag, and care label. Country of manufacture and care label font style help identify era for vintage pieces. RGLister reads tag photos to identify brands and era details.

Pricing Clothing

Research sold listings filtered to comparable brand, item type, size, and condition. Women's vintage sells on different pricing logic than men's vintage. Designer brands have established sold price histories — check completed listings for the specific item, not just brand and category. Vintage pricing depends heavily on condition, era, and demand for specific styles.
